Currency Bulletin has developed a checklist of 'sentiment gauges', which was arrived at by a process of elimination over the years. In the 1990s, nothing else seems to have worked, but CB's checklist has - whether the markets are trending or choppy. Perhaps it works because it derives probabilities from an analysis of the present, not from guesswork about the future. And perhaps because it's based on human nature which is constant, rather than fashion which is fickle.

This approach makes CB as valuable to 'chartists' as to 'fundamentalists'. It's complementary to both. CB doesn't just offer news and views. It offers a systematic method for analysing currency movements, monitoring trends, and anticipating changes in direction.
